I used cable chains many years ago on a tractor-trailer rig. They work, but are not as effective as twist link or v-bar chains. I used the cable chains for there ease putting then on. Chaining up an 18 wheeler to cross the Rockies in winter was a real pain in the butt.
Unless you are caring a substantial load all the time, most people here in So. Minnesota take the outside dual off in winter.
