What is the HP on the 850? I like JDeere as do many others, it is fair to say that it is likely the best all around lawn machine going considering the INCREDIBLE support for especially older machines, great parts pricing comparatively speaking, I'm not real familliar w/the 850, but I recommend if your buying a compact tractor, make sure it has all the features of a large tractor, I recently picked up a JD 400 the machine is a 20HP kohler vtwin, power steering, front and rear PTO, hydraulic lift, power steering, and DOUBLE wetlines pre-plumbed on quick disconnects at the front with pump and controls, the machine is about 20 yrs old, it looks and runs beautifully, I expect it to have 15-20 years left with proper oil changes and grease. There is nothing worse than finding out that you have limited yourself for the future, problem is sometimes we//you don't know what you'll want in the future, the above features I mentioned on the JD400 is the minimum I would expect on a compact tractor (except I missed 4x4, so I immediately wound up purchasing a replacement machine and am now forced to sell the JD400 (because I limited myself which is my point to you))....Mike
