If the engine isn't stuck you won't hurt anything to crank it up. I always put a little penetrating oil into the spark plug holes. Don't tach the engine up before you let it idle at least half hour, reason being the valve stems could have rust on them, and could stick open, thus piston comes up hits valve, and then tne least problem you have is bent valve. It can ruin piston, and ruin head. I presume the truck has a 450 cid engine, man those were some tough engines, we used to run them R 190 across country, they sure sounded pretty with dualled out straight pipes on em, or home made steele pot mufflers, there's a whole lot of info-parts for sale and pictures at historical truck society.
