Fred,
I just a couple of weeks ago bought a 1956 IHC R200 truck which is very simular to what I think you have......except that yours is a tractor and mine is a stake bed. Along with the truck I got an owners, service, and parts manual with it. If you need me to look up anything in them, just let me know. Feel free to e-mail me. I'm 99.9% sure the manuals cover your model as well as mine. I drove mine back from eastern MD to western PA (7 1/2) hours with no problems. Just don't expect it to go very fast! With the gearing mine has, a little over 50 MPH is about all it'll do. But it's got more than enough pulling power. They're great old trucks......built really solidly. As to what to do to get yours running, start with a good battery and fresh fuel. Make sure all the fuel filters are clean. If you're feeling really energetic you might pull the valve cover and pour some clean oil over the rocker arms and valve stems. Also a little oil, either engine oil or some kind of penetrating oil couldn't hurt in the cylinders......just be ready for lots of smoke when it does start! Good luck with it! And if you do decide that it isn't what you want to put any money into, please let me know. I'd be intrested in buying some of the parts off of it. Can't have to many spare parts you know! Oh yeah, one last thing.....Yesterday's Truck is a GREAT web site but they seem to be more focused on smaller trucks. If you find any other place let me know. I've been looking without much luck.

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Godfrey, Illinois Country Days - by Cindy Ladage. Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this ... [Read Article]
