Shocker: Secret to clearing land and burning green trees, is have a dozer with absolutely no oil leaks of any description. Start you fire with truck tires and keep adding the material as you clear. A friend of mine bought a new Cat D7 in the 70s. It usually took about 4 fires to keep him going. He would go right up on top of roaring fires that were 20' across. He used that dozer just like a poker on that open fire, stir it all up then push on some fresh material, go right up on top and tramp it down. As he progressed he pushed his fires closer to the clearng area. I've seen him clear 40 acres and have nothing left but small wood that fell between root rake teeth. He is retired now, dozer lasted 20 years and he sold it. He has lung and heart problems, never smoked in his life. He had air tanks on dozer, but I don't remember seeing mask on a lot. He also had a 400 gallon water tank on top of ROPS. The chances that guy took were unbelievable, but he never lost a dozer to fire. Every winter he would put it in shop and check out all seals, fuel lines, hydraulic lines, any possible source of oil leak was checked out. His theory was never try to burn a pile, but rather pile on your fire.

My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
