I'm no expert, but if you don't mind owning and older tractor(and I'm guessing you don't since you own a 9n) and you're just looking for more PTO hp, buy something like a Ford 600 or 800 series. A 641 is rated at 33.6 HP and the 841 is rated at 44.7 hp. (rating based on the Nebraska test). If I'm not mistaken, they both have a live pto and hydraulics, but I'm not for sure. Also think about a later 3000 or 4000. The 3000 is rated at 39 while I think the 4000 is rated at 48, but I'm not for sure on it. Though I do know that they both have live hydraulics and pto. I'm not saying the Zetor or Mahindra are bad tractors, becuase I don't know. But I do know that they are cheaper(price wise) and you almost always get what you pay for. I've got a 66 3000 that knock on wood, does it's thing everyday. Also, if you're on a limited budget, this could save you quite a bit more money and all of the tractors I mention are a lot more tractor than your 9n. Plenty of parts are still available at reasonable prices and you can find a New Holland dealer or some average farmer almost anywhere that could tell you all you'll ever need to know about them. Just my 2 cents worth. Hope it helps. Casey

Today's Featured Article - Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point ... [Read Article]
