Greetings to all from the FL panhandle. We have power now and as of today we temporarily have phone & internet. Got tired of waiting for the phone company and climbed up the pole and did a temporary hookup. Phone company said wire was back-ordered and could not provide a date for service restoration.

We are all fine compared to many others. Our town was exposed to the bad side of the hurricane and many homes, barns and sheds were destroyed. We had an oak tree punch through the roof and into my son's bedroom and it also broke out the window. Other than that, we are in pretty good shape. Lost many oaks and a few pines, but all tractors were spared from the many trees that fell. If anyone wants free firewood, you could come down and load up the biggest gooseneck you could pull and it wouldn't put a dent on just one street. Oak everywhere and some pecan and cedars too.

In the south part of town (along the bay) houses were completely wiped off their foundations and spread into the nearby swamp. The power of Ivan was not a Camille, but it was the closest I ever want to see to that hurricane--which I went through as a teenager in Mississippi.

Missed the YTMAG site and all the good reading and friends, but glad to be back for now. Special thanks to Everett in southeastern MI and Al in Wayne County, PA for their phone calls of concern. They are both good friends.
