When thy put new points in it did they get them set right, out of time can cause to run hot. Is the coil set at the right gap, again, out of time can run hot.
did you replace fuel line? It could have come apart in the line. As Ron said, check cap vent. You could be running lean in the carb, that will also cause heat.
