I have to agree with you. But, here's another angle. A fellow that has to finance one for 4 or 5 years and is planning on keeping the vehical for 5 or 6 years wouldn't be too concerned about how much it depreciates in the first few years. I have seen the time when a low monthly payment on a brand new one fit my budget better than the lowest payment I could get on a similar used vehical.
