Once upon a time, I was a die-hard Chevy/GMC fan myself. A 1988 Chevy 1-ton, and a 1997 GMC 3/4 ton took care of that.
The 88 Chevy was a lemon from the start. It went through SIX intake gaskets, a transmission, 2 heater cores, an air conditioning compressor, an AM/FM radio, the windshield cracked while setting in the garage having the radia fixed, and the radiator leaked the entire time I owned it. And THEN...It had this habit of the horn going off whenever the temperature dropped below 5 degrees. Imagine the fun of getting up at 4:00AM, running out in the cold, and disconnecting the fuse to "dis-arm" the horn....AFTER getting a phone call from my next door neighbor about the horn waking his wife...
All that after trading the best truck I ever owned on the blasted thing. (A 1984 Toyota 4WD)
The second mis-adventure with GM was the '97 GMC truck. All that was wrong with it was the oil pan....It wouldn't hold the 2 rods that went through the bottom of it ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP....With the sticker still in the window. After it was "fixed", it became a moving target. As no fault of it's own (I assume), it was the victim of THREE rear-end collsions. All three while I was setting at traffic lights.
I now own 2 Dodge trucks, 1 Ford truck, 1 Kenworth, and 1 Toyota pick-em-up. My wife still insists on owning a Chevy, only because no one else makes a Corvette. She still has a "back-up vehicle", a 1994 Olds Cutlass Cierra with only 5700 miles on the clock.
