Paul, the Fire Ants haven't made it up to lobster country yet. These things pile up a lot of dirt. I agree they won't hurt the mower, but will absolutely stop the tractor! JJ, I mow with almost the same setup you have, a 5ft Rhino and a Ford 821 here in Central Texas. When I am cutting new land, I raise up the mower height to about 8 inches or so. If I try to put a finish height (2 inches) the first time, I hit all the rocks and logs that are hiding. I have just about ruined the sides of the Rhino learning to do this (I'm slow). Mow high the first time, then clear, then mow it right the next time. Or you can do like I do, and be ready to replace your mower after two or three years. Also, since you said you were new at this, some free advice. You probably don't have a "live" pto on your model Ford. If you also don't have an overrunning adapter between your pto and the mower, the mower will try to push the Ford everytime you hit the brakes, making a very dangerous situation. Look for the adapters at your New Holland dealer or at almost anyplace that sells parts for Ford tractors. About $60.
