An old trick to deaden the "slingshot" effect of a nylon strap is to lay a heavy coat, or a tarp over the strap when pulling. If it does break or come unhooked, the weight of the tarp will lessen the backlash somewhat. They are still dangerous when used improperly, or overloaded. John
