Full-time RV'ers have long sought a heavier truck than the 1 ton pickups. The medium duty trucks such as you linked to, are outragously priced. There is a new industry that is expanding rapidly. They take an OTR tractor, convert the large sleepers into a mini-motorhome,remove one rear axle, replace the 10K lb air bags with 5K bags, remove the turning stops. The end result is a tow truck that will handle any fifth wheel RV while getting 10mpg, is licensed as an RV, has a tighter turning radius than most pickups, and has more HP(375-500) than any MDT. They also are exempt from DOT rules and do not require a CDL. This for around $35K for a conversion truck that will outlast any one non-commerical indivual.
