Hard to believe the JB Weld didn't work. I just fixed a hole in my son's '72 Torino with JB. I use the JB Kwik that sets up in 4 minutes. Make sure the surface is dry and clean - no gas residue. Then rough up the area with sand paper - then re-clean. Mix the JB throughly so there are no bubbles in it. Apply smoothly. A trick I learned is after you apply, wet your finger tip with spit or soapy water and smooth the JB weld out. This will leave a clean smooth surface. Good luck.
