Just got back from an Alaska Cruise. Was in Skagway but did not take the train trip. Went from Ketchikan to Juneau on a 90 fit boat with 64 others. No big liner for me. We stayed in hotels at night. No set schedule for us, we spend about an hopur at the fot of a glacier, had to push floating ice out of the way to get to the glacier. When we spotted whales the captain stopped the bot and they came so close that when they "blew", sometimes you could feel the spray!!!

Skagway was great but highly commercialized.

Overall a GREAT trip.
