Back in the late sixties the wife bought a Ford without first driving it all all speeds and surfaces. It was an LTD and turned out to be a real bad vehicle with everything from bad Firestone tires, bad transmission, bad axle, bad brakes poor carburetion system (390 and C6) to also having been damaged on the car carrier. She learned her lession and now before she buys she takes them on a trial run. If there is anything she doesn't like she takes it back and trys another until she finds a "good one". It seems to work. She was into Cougars at one time and tried four of them before she found one that suited her both for driveability, NVH, brakes and fit and finish. She even looks for door edges which stick out beyond the panel ahead of them and catch stones with eventual damage to the paint from stone chips. She has stayed with the same salesman for years now because he prescreens the vehicle for her and tells her which ones to stay away from. She goes back to him every two years for a new one. Vern
