Rex is right on track, but you might also want to check those hinges, bushings and pins at the front of the door before you tear it all apart.

Lift the rear of the door when it is standing open about a foot; if you get any shake out of it, these items are worn and the door is sagging on it's mounts and is probably hanging up on the striker/latch.

Hope you don't have to go inside that door cause that's a nasty little job, but the inside handle is by far much easier to replace than the outside one.
