If it ran for 5 seconds, this would likely rule out timing as the cause for it not starting. While the timing ultimately needs to be set EXACTLY to spec, it should still start even if the pump timing is 10 degrees off either way.

Check and double check that there is a good flow of fuel to the pump, and that the fuel return system is not restricted.

It needs to crank over FAST with the starter, or if you have a reliable helper you could try pull-starting it. BE CAREFULL!
