Assuming you're using the same size tires (750-16's or whatever they are), if you run new tires (more diameter) with old tires (less diameter) on the same hub, all you're going to do is to wear our you new tires quicker since they'll see most of the load. If I had only two new tires, I'd put them on the front and run the two old fronts on one rear hub and the other two old ones on the other rear hub. If you're going to have a blowout, its better to have it on one of your rears than on the front. Always have your best tires on the front for safety.
