The rotating assemblies were balanced together at the factory, i.e. the crank, clutch driver and flywheel were "matched" - I don't know if the pistons and rods were done with them or not, but I wouldn't think so. So installing a replacement flywheel or driver would technically throw the engine out of balance. But, when dealing with a big, slow-speed engine with huge parts, it's not much of an issue. Installing aluminum pistons will do the same thing, and make the engine tend to vibrate more than normal. What I don't know is if they marked every crank/flywheel/driver in the same location on the end.
