This tractor with no water pump is called a "thermo siphon" cooling system. This means that the hot water rises to the top of the system as the cooler water goes to the bottom, this along with John Deere's direct drive fan and a copper cored radiator worked real well for decades. One thing you need to do is to be sure and mix the antifreeze and water thoroughly BEFORE you pour it into the system. If not mixed thoroughly, the heavy antifreeze will settle to the bottom and the water will stay unmixed and will sometimes cause these old John deere tractors to run hot. Seen that happen many times, was raised in a JD shop when the "A" was popular seller.
