Use your 6 volt charger just like you would a 6 volt battery. Charge mine every so often has worked for year that way. The reason i have to charge my 8 volt is because of to many short runs at idle speed on tractor the old gen doesn,t keep up. Yes just charge on 6 volt side and it will do fine.
