Get the parts, service and operators manual cheap from Mother Deere at 1-800-522-7448. Kim has a service or operators manual on this site too. This is more of a Deere question for the Deere are of this site rather than a general tractor question. The odd peice will interchange here and there but generaly the M,40 & all gear straight steer 1956 420 are most similar, the straight steer yellow stripe 1957 420 is it's own animal and the different again slant steer 1959 420 and the 430 are identical. There is partial interchange between four and five speeds of the same years. Even the early 1010 up to serial number 31,000 shared many transmission and hydraulic parts with the late 420 & 430.
