Around here the ones going to 42/46 are generally sugar beet farmers, who plant in 22 inch rows. They want taller, narrower tires to give good traction in the narrower rows. Less rubber width on the ground needs bigger diameter to maintain same traction. They go to 22 inch corn/soybean planters as well, like their beet planters, so the same tractor & equipment (cultivator, sprayer) can be used on all crops.
