Hey Bob, You are one lucky man. Next year take the time to disk a few trips around your property as things are drying out. This will give you a place to make a stand. When the fire is approaching, you can run along the disk line toward the fire with a road flare and inprove the buffer between your property and the fire. Just be sure the fire is close enough that what you are doing won't increase the danger to other property. And if the firefighters make it to your property they will thank you too. They would like to make a stand on property that they have a good chance to save without getting their tail feathers singed. Out west it is called "Defensable Space." Skycarp
