Me too. But he asked about pollination. Pollination has nothing to do with plant size or number of ears. It has everything to do with how well the ears are filled with kernels. For family corn, that's maybe not a problem. For market corn, the ears had better be filled from end to end with full kernels or you won't be able to give the next year's crop away. The planting instructions for the hybrid I grow recommend block planting and discourage row planting. I grow 10 rows and am blessed with very strong and variable winds. Still, we use the ears from the outside 1-2 rows for wildlife food. The interior rows produce full kernel ears.
