I was going to say, if you could afford shoes in the summer time, let alone "tennis shoes" you were either a town kid or your folks had real foldin money. New smelling (and I'll never forget that smell the first day of school as long as I live) dungarees, new shoes, and they better last the year out, and brand new tablets with lines about an inch wide and if you were really lucky, it was a "Big Chief" notebook.
