I have two. The oldest is a 63? model Moline Big Mo 400 that has been a working tractor since new. It started as a standard field tractor, then spent many years as a loader tractor in our dairy operation, and now works almost every day with a rear mounted fork lift. I did not realize untill a year ago that it is quite a rare tractor with only about 150 of them produced in that year. It is badly in need of paint from the ammonia and moisture of the dairy barn in winter. About the only repairs this tractor has needed was a rering because of an air pipe hose that rotted out on the engine side where you couldn't see it,and a new clutch disc and a set of valve springs. The other is an 85 model Steiger KR1225 bought new in the fall of 86. Steiger was in bad shape financially, and looking to turn iron into cash to meet the payroll. We were in the market for a USED 4 wd tractor with pto. The combo Case and Steiger dealer did not have what we needed in a used tractor, The salesman said, how about a new one? I said no,I had land payments to make, and was not in the market for a new one. The salesman said list price is $87,000,make an offer, any offer. I said $50,000,thinking that lowball offer would get him out of my face. He said, give me a few min to make a call. 5 min later he returned and said sign the paper and put 10% down and you will have your tractor in a week. The tractor was shipped from the dealers lot in Lousiana to the Steiger factory in Fargo to make changes we wanted and delivered within a week. Have put over 5000 trouble free hrs on that tractor,it has been a good investment.

New Hitches For Your Old Tractor - by Chris Pratt. For this article, we are going to make the irrational and unlikely assumption that you purchased an older tractor that is in tip top shape and needs no immediate repairs other than an oil change and a good bath. To the newcomer planning to restore the machine, this means you have everything you need for the moment (something to sit in the shop and just look at for awhile while you read the books). To the newcomer that wants to get out and use the machine for field work, you may have already hit a major roadblock. That is the dreaded "proprietary hitch". With the exception of the
