I have a friend who worked in the test lab lab in the mid late 80's. They were selling repower engines to the military which at the time was the only good source of income. When this ran out, I believe they were looking at natural gas/propane to carry the company. When he was there, they scraped most if not all of the old stuff. They were obviously in financial trouble and he left. I suspect they are now only history.
