Hey Dean. Thought I would share a bit of friendly advise. I tried all of the home remedies offered here about hooking wires together, getting resistors from Radio Shack, and everything else. In the end, I went to Duey's site and downloaded his wiring diagram. I purchased a three wire alternator and a 12 volt coil with resistor. I took cutters and removed every wire on my tractor. After taking the tank and cowling off, I rewired my complete tractor in about four hours. I am a mechanical idiot, but the first time I hit the key she popped right off and she has been humming every since. By removing all of that old 6 volt wire, I now have a system that is clean, resistant free and will give me another 55 years of good service.
