I consider myself an antique tractor nut and am not parcial to one color. I mainly like Allis Chalmers and Caterpilliar, and I also like the 730 John Deere. I was just playing the trivia game on this site and one of the questions ask what the RD in the Caterpillar model line desginates. There correct answer is Rudolph Diesel. This is a common misconception that alot of people dont know about. ACtually, the R stands for Roosevelt. Caterpillar produced tractors for the governmental projects during Roosevelt's New Deal. The D does in fact stand for Diesel. Cat made the R line which were gas, and the RD line which were the same as the R line except they had diesel engines. This was something I thought until I read the Big Book of Caterpillar and found out the truth behind everything. I just wanted to get everyones opinion on this and see what they thought or if anyone else has caught it
