This is the correct answer. The reason is that gasket technology has changed dramatically since many of there tractors and cars/trucks were built. Most modern gaskets are coated with either silicone or teflon. If you use sealer with these you destroy the gasket and maybe even the engine via a coolant leak into the crankcase. If you use a gasket that requires sealer and you decide to use aluminum paint, be very careful. There are two types of aluminum paint, one contains real aluminum, the other little plastic balls that look like aluminum.
