Ed, The 40E should be approximately equivalent to a 255 Massey but with a fixed solid front axle assembly. It probably has a shuttle type transmission as well. If you are going to be using a loader a lot, this machine would be much better suited for the job. The 135 is a great tractor but it really is intended for utility type uses. Hope this helps. Tommy
