I know what you mean about worthless government agencies, especially "animal control"...what a joke..... Several years ago a few of us called about a 'coon in another neighbors. This animal was out in broad daylight, was just plain acting strange and being extreemly agressive. Most of us had either dogs or kids, or both and the last thing we wanted was any of them getting bit/attacked by this critter. They had been all over the news asking people to call in incidents like this. There had been an unusually high amount of rabies cases that year and they said they wanted to check out any odd occurances like this. We were told that it was a weekend so no officers were on duty, but that we could kill it and cut it's head off ourself and send it in to be checked, at our expense.....Needless to say it got a bullet and a deep hole..... As a dog owner myself I'd at least make an attempt to find the owner and make sure this dog being out wasn't just a fluke thing. Beyond that the 3s rule is in effect. We have a leash law here too, if you've got less than 5 acres, but it came about nearly 5 years after I got my dogs and I've got only 4.5 acres. My dogs have never been penned or leashed and never will. Since my property backs up to Dads and he has 12 acres they became "Dad's dogs"....All the neighbors know me and they know my dogs and know they aren't the least bit aggresive, even to Dad's cats.(The cats have established without a doubt who the boss is...LOL) All the neighbors have all been told if any one of my dogs ever physically gets aggressive or even acts like their going to SHOOT THEM. To me unless a dog is acting naturally to protecting it's owner( or is a trained guard dog) or it or it's pups is being physically attacked and is actually protecting itself then it should never be agressive. Some dogs are are trained to be mean for protection, and that's fine, but some dogs are just plain born mean, and if that's the case then they need to meet a bullet. That may sound harsh, but that's just the way I feel. I love my dogs but a mean dog isn't worth anything to anybody, especially me....Just my .02

Today's Featured Article - The Day Mom Drove the 8N - by Brian Browning. My Dad was wanting to put in a garden but couldn't operate the 8N and handle the old horse drawn plow he had found and rigged up to use with the tractor. Well, he decided to go get Mom out of the house and have her drive the tractor while he walked behind the plow. You got to understand that while my Mom is a hard worker who will always help whenever she can... she had never operated farm machinery before that day. Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o ... [Read Article]
