1950 A pulley bearing

Had a John Deere mechanic inspect the free facing and lined disc from the belt pulley to determine if they should be replaced. He said I should replace the pulley bearing at this time also. I hadn't removed the drive disc yet so I don't know how the bearing is held in place and what is involed in removing the bearing. He mentioned something about being able to move the tractor wheels? Is this something a novice should get into? Would appreciate some advice.
