Bob, Gary hit the nail right on the head. There are conversion kits, but do not try taking an alternator and putting it in place of a generator one for one. I'm not familiar with any 12 VDC generators or 6 VDC alternators. And, when it comes to alternators, many or even most have changed polarity from negative ground to positive ground, so an alternator isn't necessarily an alternator either. Mark.IN.
