Each 'cell' of a battery puts out 2 volts. So, if there are 6 little caps on the battery, then it is a 12v. Note some batteries have a plate that covers all the cells, some are sealed & have no covers, and some have a double-cap that covers 2 vents each, so you still need to know what you are looking for on some of the newer battery styles. But if you see 6 caps, it is a 12v. For that age tractor, should be a 12v. --->Paul
