Check the gas cap. if the gas cap vent is plugged or not venting, the gas tank gets airbound and won't let the gas flow to the carb. Might not be it, but then again, it could be. Just another thing easy to check before digging too deep. I have seen this cause problems. After being stopped for a while, the air leaks back in and will let more gas flow out before becoming air bound again.
