Stronger truck for hauling

My wife and I plan to upgrade in a year or two from a Dodge 1500 to a stronger unit to haul a 14000# GVW trailer with an 8000# Cockshutt on board. Also, have a 24' travel trailer (About 5000#) that will be hauled through some mountains.
Thinking of a Ford 3/4 ton or another Dodge in a 3/4 ton. No GM stuff. Who out there has had good or bad experiences with either a Ford or Dodge?
