Just another form of scamming, as I see it. Recently outbid by one previous bidder on e-bay and next thing vendor comes back with a 'second chance' offer. I told him I didn't expect to have paid my maximum bid, and go put it on again. I suspect he may have had a 'runner' bidding it up for him. Possible honest offer, but my view was that I would have paid much less if I was the only sensible bidder and I will get one in a clearly fair auction.
