If you have a 1961 801 it shouldn't have a timing chain but two timing gears inside the front of the motor. The crankshaft gear runs the camshaft gear, thus no timing chain. The book says to split the tractor to change either gear but, I think, after I went through that proceedure, you might be able to pull the gears from the front without the split. Good luck.
