Hi big Fred, Thats cause I can't remember what gas cost in 1976. I know some time in the 70's it was around $.32/gal and I told the wife ( about the time of the 70's oil crunch hit) it was going to double in price and sure engough it hit $.75/gal with-in a year. What I was trying to show was the actual cost increase over a given time period. Adjusted for inflation doesn't say how much it's taking out of my pocket right now comparred to another time period.
