changing seals on a spool valve

I have a leaking spool valve on my 1970 Bobcat. I plan on changing the seals to see if that fixes the leak, question I have is this...can I expect alot fluid to pour out of the valve when I pull the spool? I should say, because of the location and huge job it would be to pull the entire valve assemble out, I plan on changing the seals by pulling the spool, but leave the valve body in place in the tractor. It is a M600 model. If the system is not under pressure, I would expect to have just a relativly small amount of hydraulic oil leak out while the spool is out....what do you think??? Thanks for any advice.
