Problem with 15HP Craftsman Hydrostatic

The tractor is 8 yrs old, model # 917.256552. It has been working wonderful for that period. This Saturday, it cranked up first try as usual, but wouldn't move when the motion control lever was engaged in either forward or reverse. I jacked the rear end of the tractor up and put it in gear and the wheels would turn, but still would not move under load. Calls to Sears Customer Service, and even a trip to the closest Service Center was no help.
Can anyone give me some ideas?
