Welcome to the group. The major difference between the styled and unstyled John deeres is most visible when you look at the sheet metal. Such things a sheet metal grilles that cover the radiator openings and streamling of the fuel tank&hood sheet metal. the styling on the John Deeres' was done in the beginning of the year 1939 by a New York designer named Richard Dreyfuss who was an industrial designer. The early unstyled tractors are sometimes referred to as "butt headed", because of their square looking fronts.
