First try to determine whether the problem is the master cylinder, the booster or something else. Suggest applying and releasing the brakes using the foot pedal with the engine running. Now loosen the bleeder on the master cylinder. If the brakes release, the problem's the master cylinder. If they still hold then open the bleeder at the booster. If the brakes now release the problem's the booster. If the brakes STILL hold with the booster bleeder open the problem's gotta be in the hydraulic tubing between the booster cylinder and the first tee. As for repairs, the master cylinder should be simple to rebuild, and parts are available and cheap. However if the vacuum booster is bad it is best replaced. I've found booster parts are nearly impossible to buy. Also boosters are fussy to work on. Besides - you are depending on the booster to help stop your truck! Best to NOT cut corners here!
