I grew up with John Deere. Dad had done some pulling in the early '70s and had owned an IH tractor or two, so when we needed another tractor to plow and do hay, he picked up a good deal on a 1466. It had great power (well, after some non-factory adjustments were made) and did a pretty good job. Compared to our JD 4230s and 4430, it was clumsy, the controls were very awkward, and the hydraulics didn't come close to the Deere's. Eventually, the 1466 was traded for another 4230. If you find a tractor comfortable, reliable and worth owning, then that's the right tractor for you.
