First of all talk to your insurance agent, if he/she can't answer your questions then find one that can. You need some sort of liability coverage to protect you from even the most frivolous law suits. In Illinois you are required to display an SMV sign both day and night. At night you are also required to have lights that delineate the tractor and the implement and hazard flashers. In Illinois, children under age 16 must complete a tractor operator's saftey course, not a big deal, but a requirement, usually the 4-H and FFA do the course with the guidance of the extention service. Fortunately I have a small farm and my tractors are covered under my farm policy, I do have a rider to cover me when I go to tractor shows.
