First, get yourself an owner's manual. If you have no IH dealer close, try Binder Books. You're on the right track, cleaning the oil pan of sludge is a good start. Replace the oil filter, drain and flush the cooling system, replace the plugs, points and condensor. These parts should be available from NAPA if there is no IH dealer close to you. You will probably also have to replace the battery. If it's set for a couple of years, it may not take a charge. If it's still the original 6 volt system, the battery should be installed with the positive terminal grounded. Pay close attention to how things are connected as you work through each of these tasks.
