Re: scrap prices

I called my local scrap yard and enquired how much they pay per ton and was quoted $50 a ton for prepaired scrap, which is heavy steel cut into 5' pieces. $25-$30 a ton for everything else. I think my local scrap is paying poorly because there is no competition around. They used to charge if a farmer wanted to leave his old machinery there not too long ago, and they won't pay you a cent for it if you bring less than a ton load. I was really hopeing for better prices than that. Then if you wanted to buy something they put the price right to some stuff, like I wanted to buy the needles out of an old JD14t that they had, and they wanted $100 for them.
